Wife's Bragging Rights!

Although I am a very proud mommy and most of what I talk about on here relates to Cohen, I decided to do a little bragging on my well-deserved, hardworking hubby!!!! Last night while Charlie was continuing the yard work, I was doing some cleaning in the house. As I was working in the kitchen, I stopped to admire the wonderful job that he did on the backsplash. And I thought, I love my handyman!!! He has done a spectacular job on all the home additions and all of it was done when he worked 60 hours plus at his old job. Not only has he done such a great tile job through out, he worked really hard last spring and laid down hardwood floors in our living room and hallway. Now with his new job and the perfect hours, it will open the door for him to possibly do some tile jobs on the side. Charlie takes pride in his work and I am so grateful for his hard work he has put into "Our Home", which makes me a proud wife too!

My Dear Friend Whit!

Last night, Lindsay, Lauree and I met a dear friend Whitney for dinner at PF Changs (heart this place). I haven't seen her a very long time and just recently reconnected on the fabulous thing called "Face Book". She is currently living in Florida and was up visiting family for her birthday. So I was excited that we were able to get together and catch up. Whitney was one of the first I got to meet when I decided to go to Wade Hampton High School and has always been such a special friend, even if there were years we had lost touch. Let's just say the girl knows a lot about me, LOL!
So Whit, I really enjoyed getting to see you last night and hope that we can do it again soon. And by the way, I was serious about that prayer I told you would be added to my list. You are LOCKED in and I have the FAITH it will come true!!! Hope you have a great birthday today! Miss you and have a safe trip back to Florida! Love you and always will Girl!

Childless week!

Before getting into the childless week part, I will start off by saying, "What a beautiful and nice weekend we had!" Can't wait to have more of them.......
~
Nothing big took place on Friday. Charlie started working in the back yard, while I managed a not so pleasant little boy. It appears that the "Meltdowns" of a toddler are starting to begin. It started off by not wanting to listen to mommy which could have ultimately landed the two of us in a very dirty and cold pool. After a few warnings, time was up and we were headed inside. He did not like that. The meltdown begin and lasted for a while. After some much discipline, I believe he finally wore himself out by all the screaming that had taken place. Once he calmed down, we had a little talk and ended it with some hugs and kisses.

Saturday was such a pretty day and you could tell by just going to a home improvement store. Everyone was out getting stuff for their yards, which is what we did. We held off on getting any plants but purchased some new stackable stone edgers. My "hardworking" hubby did a superb job and it looks really nice. I will post pictures once it is completed. We are really pleased on how it turned out so we plan to do the same thing in the front yard. We enjoyed some Chic-Fil-A for dinner and a visit from GG.
~
Sunday was the day that would start our Childless week! We had attempted this before but it was cut short due to Grandma getting sick. So around 5 o'clock, we sent Cohen on his way to enjoy some quality time with his Papa and Grandma and he is not due to come home until Friday evening or possibly Saturday. The break is going to be nice and I plan to get a lot of things done around the house but I wonder if I will be able to make it until the weekend to see my lovable pistol. Lunch plans have been made on Wednesday so that I can get a little Cohen fix. As usual, when Cohen is off spending the night, it is so quiet and something definitely is missing in our home. I believe it is very important for parents to have this time, not only does it allow you to get more things done, but you need that alone time....
~
While Charlie finished some outside work, I was in the re-organization mood so I planted myself in our bathroom floor and started in our cabinet and then onto the closet. We took the rest of the night easy and I turned on the T.V. just in time to see Carrie Underwood's wonderful performance!!! I love to hear her sing and have pulled for her ever since she made it to the top twelve of American Idol. So I was glad to see this gorgeous and talented girl win Entertainer of the Year. I have to ask, "What about that dress?". If you didn't see it, it was huge. I would have loved to see how she walked off the stage in it. But either way, the girl looks good in everything she puts on and always puts on a great performance.
OK, enough jibber jabber. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and has a wonderful week!!!

Addicted to the Blue Bag!

We all have some form of addiction and it appears that mine would be this "Blue Bag" from The Children's Place. I "LOVE" this store and over the past few months, I have (in my opinion) refrained from going to this store as much as I use too. It is hard to find cute (cool) little boy clothes and this store has a great selection.

My plan was to go in there and purchase just a pair of socks and although I did do just that, I also came out with a few more items. I have been trying to hold off as long as I can in buying summer clothes for this boy. He is growing so fast and I have already made the mistake in buying ahead thinking he would be in that size during that specific season. And that has not been the case. But it appears that he is finally getting into 18 month so I feel comfortable in making some purchases. I will admit that the boy had way more clothes at 6-9 months then he needed but now the closet and drawers are looking very slim and are in desperate need of some "All Boy" tee-shirts and shorts....

Now I could have done more damage, especially with the New Spring arrivals, but I managed to only purchase these items they had marked down. I am thinking it is time to make a drive to TCP outlet store!!!

No More Rock-Rock at Night!!!

It has been a little over two weeks now and Cohen seems to be adjusting very well to being placed in his crib awake. We decided that it was time he learned to go to sleep on his own and stay there all night. He was at the point of where he was sleeping through the night, with a few exceptions of waking up crying. He learned very quickly of the new routine and would start tearing up as we made our way to his room but as soon as you pull the door to, he would stop crying.

This past Friday, I found myself walking out of his room with a shocked look on my face. Could that really happen? No crying! And it has only happened a few times (more with daddy) but when I placed him in the crib, he just laid there, looking at me as I told him that I love him and sweet dreams. He did not cry out for me to come back. I was so proud of our little man!

The "Naps" are a different story. GG still has to rock-rock and on the weekends, if we don't lay beside him or rock, well then he would never take his nap. And a 19 month old NEEDS A NAP!!! He hasn't mastered those yet but hopefully that day is right around the corner.

I often wonder when the day will come when Cohen willingly wants to go night-night. I have heard from others that this kind of thing does take place so I am believing that it will one day happen in the Gibson household.

Congrats to The Rollings!!!!

It is always exciting to hear that a couple are expecting, especially a first.!!! Chap and Heather are good friends of Charlie's from college and although I have never met them, I have had the pleasure of reading about them through their blog. I love pregnant women and getting to hear stories and the progress of going through such a wonderful experience, so I can't wait to follow their blog. So congratulations to you both and we will keep you guys in our prayers during and after this very exciting adventure of becoming parents!!!!
