Fun-Filled Day & Food

Saturday, I woke up thinking about the wonderful day ahead and all the food that I would be enjoying through out. After a few errands, I met my mom and aunt at one of my favorite places "PF Changs" for our annual birthday luncheon for my myself and my aunt, even though we were a several weeks late. It never fails that when I go, along with several appetizers that I want, I can not decide to go with one of my usuals or try something new. The decision was made and we would each get an appetizer (my choice - Crab wontons and oh I would love to have some right this minute) and we each got a different entree so we could all try them. Man, the food. I wish I had taken a picture of all the food on our table. And yes, we did have leftovers and they were all sent home with the pregnant lady!!!!
After we took a little stroll through the shops at Greenridge, Mom and I made our way to a baby shower. The shower was for a dear friend of mine, Melissa, and who also happens to be the daughter of one of mom's best friends. She will be welcoming her son, Tristan, to this world in October.

Again, there was the food. Gotta love food at a shower! We played lots of games and enjoyed watching Melissa opening all the baby gifts.
Later I made my way over to my in-loves, where my boys had been hanging out. Actually the hubby wasn't hanging out, he had been working at one of their neighbor's all day installing a back splash in the kitchen. You would have thought that after my huge lunch at PF Changs and the baby shower food, I probably couldn't find a way to eat anymore. That was not the story. GG fixed up some yummy BBQ and I ate not 1 but 2 sandwiches. What can I say, I am pregnant!!!!

A Wonderful Feeling...

...a feeling that makes you stopping thinking about anything at that moment.... a feeling that every pregnant woman waits on... a feeling that is so wonderful and has you smiling from ear to ear.....
I am talking about the first experience of feeling your baby!!!! I was told that it was possible to feel your baby during a second pregnancy sooner than you do with the first. And that is what happen for me. I was about 20 weeks when I first felt Cohen. With Baby #2, it was 15 weeks. Leave it up to my humorous husband to ask me if I wasn't mistaken it for gas? Funny, funny guy!!!!
Now that the feeling has begun, I am looking forward to he or she moving all around, kicking and giving mommy those sweet love punches!
Since I don't have a current ultrasound pic of our baby, thought I would show that our little one is measuring about the size of an avocado.

23 Months

The month countdown has begun to when we celebrate our little man turning 2! I just cant believe it and wonder where the past 2 years have gone. It is no lie when you have kids that time flies by.

Cohen is a very active little boy. On the go as much as he can but still loves to cuddle in the morning time. He is talking more and more everyday and pretty much will repeat anything you say. It is so cute to hear the new words he learns come out of his sweet little voice. Let's just say he listens really well but will listen to only what he wants to sometimes.

As he takes the next step into toddlerhood, there comes some fun challenges. With still battling the bed time situation, we will be starting the potty training and saying "Goodbye" to Paci... I know it is part of it but oh boy is it going to be fun!?!?!

Now its on to finishing the birthday party plans..........

The "Transition"

The time has come and could not have been at a better time, for Cohen to move from his
"CRIB"
to a big boy bed. I was thrilled to have gotten the call yesterday from the furniture store that the bed had arrived. I immediately called Charlie and along with Pops, they made their way to pick it up.
I have mentioned it before, but we have battled with Cohen for some time now (Um, 10 months) with going to bed and we continued to rock him to sleep. He would still wake up in the middle of the night crying and we would end up putting him the bed with us so that we could get the sleep we needed. (HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED). We had decided after our vacation that it was time to put not just 1 foot down but both and stick to it. No matter how much he cried out for us. And IT WORKED! The longest he cried at the beginning was about 15 mins and then it went to saying night night to us as we laid him down. We were amazed and he was sleeping through the night until around 7am, sometimes a little earlier but that was o.k. with me. I was so proud and was glad this day had come.

Until.....Saturday! It had last 13 days. It all started when I decided to put him down for his nap in his crib. And he did what every mommy fears and hopes their child will not do, and that is he had climbed out. Later that night, he had reverted back to his old self and screamed going to bed. While we letting him cry it out, we noticed the crying was getting closer and sure enough, he did it again. I was just thankful that he did not get hurt and wondered what we were going to do until his big boy bed arrived. We made it through that night and on Sunday, well he went to bed good but around 1:30, we both were awaken to a noise and then the crying. He had gotten out and was making his way to us. In our bed he went and slept the rest of the night.

We knew that even with setting up his new bed that we were in for it. Of course, he did not care to go to bed when it was time and cried for a while. Eventually made his way to us, Charlie decided to go lay down with him until he fell asleep. Let's just say Daddy got to see how the new bed slept too. I didn't see either of them until the next morning. I guess we will see how this stage goes and hoping that it doesn't last long.
Here is a peek at his new bed. His room is still under construction and will post full pictures once I complete it. I am so excited about it and truly loving how everything is coming together.

The Result Is....

....We are going to have to wait FOUR MORE WEEKS to find out what this little one is going to be. Ugh! I had all intentions of marching into that Doctor's office yesterday and beg to have an ultrasound done. Well just say that I wimped out and decided not to beg. But whether use the "to ease my mind" approach with an issue that I have been experiencing.

That issue is some sharp pains with the majority on the right side. I mentioned this to the nurse and that I would like to have an ultrasound done to "ease my mind" that everything is o.k. I ended up seeing that nurse practitioner and she did some explaining on what that pain was. Which has something to do with these ligaments and that some pregnant women will experience pain as they stretch out. It just so happens that my uterus is sitting more to my right side which is what is causing the sharper pains on that side. It is possible that these pains will go away but some women continue to experience them through out the pregnancy. If I do, a pregnancy belt was suggested to help lift the weight off my uterus. I am hoping that they go away. After she explained all of this, she quickly added "that we will do an ultrasound at your next visit"... I decided not to push the envelope.

I am sure the next 4 weeks will fly by. I have so much going on and decided that I needed to put my attention on other stuff, such as, finish Cohen's Big Boy Room, finish planning his 2nd birthday party, and a few family/friends' get togethers coming up...

At 16 weeks, I have gained a total of 12 lbs (4 since my 12 wk ck-up) and the baby's heartbeat was at 145. Still very tired and battle with headaches almost everyday. Everything is going as good as it can and I guess this is one of those lessons to teach me patience. "Patience" that I know I am going to need with not just having 1 child but 2 in the near future.
